Po více než dekádě mimo scénu je kdysi oslavovaný emcee C.L. Smooth připraven k návratu, který definitivně stvrdí jeho sólový debut pojmenovaný „American Me“, jenž by se měl dostat na trh 19. září. Co se týče produkce, příležitost vyřádit se a ukázat, že i bez Pete Rocka to C.L.ovi pošlape, dostali Mike Loe, Kaygee a Tramp z Divine Mill, či Arsonist z The Heatmakerz.
Rappa se na adresu připravované novinky nechal slyšet: „American Me is about misconceptions. It ‚s about the things people say, the things people perceive, right or wrong it’s about the speculations that we force on each other. I am spelling it out, politically and personally. I’m bringing the real deal, in spite of everyone and everything else. My lyricism isn’t about brute force; instead it showcases what I’ve come up against and why I’m still here.“
